Exclusive interview with new online star Stanchris
The 22-year-old American Stanchris is currently conquering the digital world and apparently only the sky is the limit – from week to week, user numbers are shooting up. In total, more than 1.2 million people follow the twink with the innocent smile on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, and the trend is steadily rising. In his funny videos, he not only amuses us with his cheeky statements about the gay community, but also makes our hearts beat faster with his naturalness. In addition, Chris also tells us why he has an absolute soft spot for big, strong, bear guys. For almost a year he has already found his dream man, a police officer. They live together in Boston and enjoy their time together as much as possible.
Chris, you are now a real star on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. Was that your plan from the beginning or did it develop more by chance and your actual career aspiration was to become a park ranger in a forest full of bears, for example? I don’t know how we came up with that right now….
Ha-ha, that sounds like a fun job to me as long as the bears are gay. This was my plan from the start, yes! I wanted to be an influencer primarily focused on gay lifestyle and content. When I was much younger, I wanted to be a professional soccer player but I feel a lot of kids think like that.
Keyword bears! You are a lover of gay bears. For those who don’t know yet: Why are gay bears just so much better for you than twinks, for example?
There is just something about bears that is inherently masculine. They remind me of lumberjacks, working men, and maturity. Not to say that bears aren’t ever feminine, I think I’m just attracted to the masculinity of their overall vibe.
Now you’ve got yourself a fine specimen of a male bear for a few months. Congratulations! What are your ultimate tips to make a bear guy happy? What should you look out for?
Thank you! My tips would be to cuddle with them every night, cook for them, and always be down to give them a little shoulder rub. Things to look out for are them eating your leftovers without asking. Bears are all different of course, but I would say it is the contrary – my bear enjoys taking care of me more.
What does your bear have to do to make you really happy?
Make me laugh with a joke, or give me a foot rub.
For all our readers who have not yet found the right man or the right bear: What tips can you give?
If you are looking for bears, I think you should just shoot your shot on any social media or in person with a guy you find attractive. The worst they can say is “no,” and then you can move on to someone new.
You’re also a really good dancer – as your videos show, for example, with but also without ART from New York, our cover model from august last year. Where does your preference for dance come from and what does music give you in general?
I wish I was a better dancer honestly, but I can pick up on the steps fast after watching someone due to my athleticism. Dancing is just fun for me to do, so I thought why not film myself and make videos out of it? Music in general has done SO MUCH for me in my life. It has changed my mood, enhanced my mood, made me cry, made me happy, calmed me down when I was angry, made me feel cool. Music is one of my favorite things about life.
You also do interviews with gay guys on the street. What was the craziest and maybe the best thing that happened to you so far? And aren’t you sometimes a little afraid to ask a stranger directly if he’s gay?
The craziest thing that happened regarding my interviews was when these two guys mentioned Madonna in one of them. Madonna ended up seeing it, and reposted it on her Instagram! It was one of the craziest nights ever, I was honored to be reposted by such a pop icon and legend. I’m not really scared to ask a stranger about their sexuality. Usually, I ask people if I can interview them before I even ask any questions about sexuality, so they are kind of ready for anything.
Your family and all your brothers are very chill about your homosexuality. Was it always so easy for you or were there also times, for example during your school years, when it was much harder for you?
Yes! My family have all been amazing ever since I first came out. High school when I came out was the toughest for me as my friends didn’t really accept me. They thought I was joking when I told them, and then ghosted me when they realized I wasn’t – except for one from my main friend group. Other guys were scared to be friends with me because they thought I liked them — at least from my perspective. It was the toughest part of my life so far. I think it is for many gay teens. I just want them to know it definitely does get better.
What would you like to tell other gay guys who have yet to come out?
I would say to people to test the waters with their family before coming out by maybe talking about a friend who mentioned something gay or something low key to see your families’ general feelings toward the topic, and then go from there. If they seem accepting, you could tell them. But if they might kick you out or disown you for some reason, I’d suggest staying in the closet until you have a safe place to go.
On social media you convey a lot of joy and a certain „ideal world“. Are there also things that scare or worry you? For example, with regard to US politics and the attempts to restrict LGBT rights more and more?
Yes of course I am worried about LGBT rights. I don’t think anything major will really end up happening to our rights, though. There are just too many of us. And of course, there have been many mass shootings and even some in gay bars in the US which is definitely in the back of my mind anytime I’m at a gay bar. But I know gay people are the toughest type of people – and we will always stand up for ourselves.
Again, and again you and your boyfriend are asked online by fans how the sex between you and your bear man is going. Don’t worry, we don’t ask about it, even if we would be curious, of course. But maybe you could answer us in general why sex with a bear is so much better?
I find bears attractive, so instantly the sex is hotter for me.
Chris, your friend is a cop. We have to admit, that’s where our imaginations run a little amok. Do handcuffs ever come into play during your lovemaking? Or any other police paraphernalia? Do you occasionally have to go to the holding cell for being a „bad boy“?
I have been a bad boy, however, no. We don’t ever use any of those things.
You also question the gay community with a lot of humor. What do you like about the LGBT community? And what don’t you like?
I like that the community feels like a big family, but we are also a drama filled family at some times. I don’t like how gays are really quick to judge someone in the community whether it be based on their politics, their body type, race, who their friends are, or something else.
You both love Provincetown – what’s so special about it?
Provincetown is my favorite gay destination I have ever been to. It’s just a place you really have to go to and see for yourself. I think straight couples are actually the ones who feel out of place there. My favorite thing to do is skateboard down commercial street doing tricks in front of everyone. It is such a fun and accepting vibe there.
You and your boyfriend also like to dress up for Halloween. Tell our fans from Germany why Halloween is such a big deal for Americans. And does it maybe have a special meaning for gay guys?
It’s really just a time to let loose and dress up and have some fun. It’s an opportunity to show people your hobbies and have fun doing it. I think it does have a special meaning for gay guys because for many it was probably the first time, they would feel comfortable dressing up as something gay, or maybe in drag, or their favorite female pop icon. Something they would probably not do on a normal day.
You’re into bears, but you’re a very sexy twink yourself, or soon to be – oh shock – a twunk. How important is your own appearance to you? And would it be bad or rather great for you to become a bear yourself sometime in a few years?
I would be fine with becoming a bear, but I think a lot of people like me now as a cute little twink/twunk. I do actually enjoy being active and working out too, so I will probably stay fit like I am now. There are definitely people who prefer bears or just like all body types, but I think for now I’m fine with how I look.
You’re also a big Pokémon fan, right? You’ll have to explain: Why do you love playing it? And why is being gay almost like being a Pokémon?
Ha-ha, yes! Ever since I was a kid, I have loved playing Pokémon. It’s one of my favorite hobbies, I guess because I grew up on it. Being gay is like being a shiny Pokemon – we are just like everyone else, except we have a sparkle.
You also ask straight guys in your videos what they would do for $100. Let’s ask you: What would you do for $100?
Honestly not a lot. I mean it depends on what someone would ask me. I would definitely do anything I ask straight guys to do, but I can’t think of something someone else would ask me to do which is a similar level to what I ask guys to do.
You and your husband also love to spend time in the hot tub. What do you think are the five best things to do in it?
Here’s my top 5 things to do in a hot tub: Relax, drink a beer, cuddle, have a conversation and let the jets massage you.
A real bear needs enough food. Do you cook anything for your bear, too? And what are the typical meals that a gay bear likes to eat?
I do cook for him occasionally, but one of his favorite meals is steak – which he cooks for me.
Chris, we have to admit it, we fell in love with your smile. We can really see how much fun you have, and that it’s not posed. Do you think that this naturalness that you have kept, is the secret of your great success?
I would say it has definitely helped me, yes – I actually used to not smile much in photos on Instagram and everyone kept telling me to smile more, so I started doing it. It’s also because my boyfriend was making me laugh. I think people relate to me and can see how determined I am.
What do you wish for your future?
I want to reach 1M subscribers on YouTube, and I also want to do something in the reality TV space. Like be on a gay TV show or maybe even create my own show for my YouTube channel.
Since December of last year, the law protecting same-sex marriage throughout America. Would marriage to your husband be an option for you someday? And if so, how would you like the celebration to go?
It is definitely an option, but I have no idea how the ceremony would go. I haven’t done any research about gay weddings, but what I do know is that both of our families would be by our side with whatever we chose to do.
In many of your videos, you also cuddle with your bear. Why is it so great to lie in the arms of a strong bear man?
He makes me feel safe.
There is a big age difference between you two, you are 22 years old, your boyfriend is 49. I remember a video of you telling, how you were out with friends and a view people thought you were your boyfriend’s son. How do you deal with that?
Honestly, I find it funny for some reason, and oftentimes I won’t correct them to avoid any strange looks. It’s easier to let them think what they want. What annoys me more is when people leave comments saying he is “taking advantage of me” or they think I only like him because he has money. Neither are true –obviously. I guess it’s just hard for these people to know that love isn’t a number.
